Different pressure gauges that meet various testing requirements are offered as accessories.
When laying new sewers and pipes, the socket testing device is positioned in the testing area of the last installed element by means of a marked traction rope. Both of the socket testing device’s hollow chamber profiles are then pressurised to approximately 4 to 6 bar by means of a foot pump (or other source of air pressure). This causes the testing chambers to seal hermetically.
For water testing purposes, the testing chambers (the venting valve must be open) are then completely filled with water. The venting valve and admissing valves are closed. The chosen testing pressure is displayed and the test can be carried out. For air testing purposes, the corresponding pressure is built up in the testing chamber.
When testing existing sewers and pipe connections, it is recommended to use a drain robot to help position the socket testing device. The robot is transported on a special carrier and is used in connection with a controlling camera in order to position the socket testing device exactly. The respective tests are documented.
In order to document the tests accurately, it is recommended that a band recorder for pressure or an electronic controller for acquiring and analysing test data is used.
